For a given transformer the maximum output voltage available from a full-wave bridge rectifier circuit will be:
- Athe same as the half-wave rectifier
- Bdouble that of the full-wave centre-tap rectifier
- Chalf that of the full-wave centre-tap rectifier
- Dthe same as the full-wave centre-tap rectifier
Correct answer: B — double that of the full-wave centre-tap rectifier. From the official ISED question bank, verified word for word.
Why
A full-wave bridge rectifier uses the entire secondary winding of a transformer to produce output, whereas a centre-tap design splits the winding in half, using only one side at a time. The full explanation — and one for every question — is in Pro.
